New York City-based designer Gerard Yosca is a legend among the fashion and jewelry elite. For nearly three decades, he has created innovative, trend-setting collections that inspire year after year. Entirely self taught, his fascination with understanding how things are made has led him on a constant quest to discover, create and design – first arts and crafts as a self-described ‘nerdy art kid’ and later, as an adult, with the development of his namesake jewelry collections. Primarily known for his bold, statement-making luxury fashion accessories, Gerard also designs private label goods for nearly all of the industry heavyweights.

Upon realizing there was an opportunity to turn his enthusiasm for crafts into a career in fashion, Gerard enrolled at Manhattan’s esteemed Parson’s School of Design, yet his talent led him to work with glass and metal instead of silk and cotton. Through his time at Parson’s, he learned not only design skills but also discovered his love for teaching; his strong ties to education and nurturing future talent are still apparent as he is frequently asked to guest lecture at one of New York’s other fashion institutions, FIT.

Following graduation in the early 80’s, Gerard made a name for himself as he created fashion-forward accessories with the same quality as the vintage gems he found in his mother and grandmother’s jewelry boxes; incorporating plated metal and enamel and applying historical design techniques in a modern way - a philosophy he continues to practice today.

For his namesake collections, Gerard remains dedicated to making quality, handcrafted goods in the United States. He meticulously creates each piece in his New York studio alongside his loyal staff, resulting in a signature look personalized for its wearer. His passion lies in the steadfast belief that the customer should see the “hand of the artist” – a mantra that sets him apart from his peers.

Gerard is a long-standing member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He sat on their Board of Directors for 12 years and served on its scholarship committee. He was nominated for Accessory Designer of the Year in 2005. Gerard’s designs can be seen in the most prestigious magazines and worn by some of the top celebrities of today. The Gerard Yosca Collection is sold at Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus and other fine department stores and boutiques across the United States and internationally.
